European Certificate in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

A Europe-wide standard for psychotherapeutic counselling education and training

The European Association for the Counselling Profession has established the European Certificate in Psychotherapeutic Counselling to ensure the standardisation of the profession of counselling throughout Europe.

The European Certificate in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (ECPC) was established to create a comprehensive Europe-wide standard for the profession of counselling. The certificate informs any potential clients that their counselor has completed a training program with standards of education and training accepted across Europe and  based on the highest standards of the profession.

The ECPC is awarded by the EACP upon application to psychotherapeutic counselors whose counseling education conforms to the EACP standard.

How to Apply for ECPC

There are two possible ways to apply for the ECPC. One way is the direct assignment (DA) through one of our EACPTIs (European Accreditation Counselling Training Institutes). The other way to apply is through the grandparenting procedure, which involves submitting a recommendation from an EACP’a National Awarding Organization (NAO) and a Europe-wide Awarding Organization (EWAO).
